Consciousness is not something dropped into nature from outside; it is nature becoming capable of reflecting upon itself.
The brain is not separate from the cosmos. It is the cosmos folded into living tissue. The atoms were born in stars; evolution assembled them into neurons; experience reshapes their connections. Each mind is a local eddy in the universe’s continuous flow, where the cosmos briefly becomes aware of itself.
